Robotnik Skipping

This is a pencil test I shot about a year ago for school. It's not the best one I did, but it's my favourite. We had to animate a character jumping, and then skipping (I think the original idea was to have the character jumping rope, but there was a miscommunication and our class ended up doing this instead). Anyway, we had the option of either designing a character or using a pre-existing model sheet to work from, so naturally I picked Milton Knight's Robotnik design from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
At one point the teacher commented that it was too rubbery and stretch-and-squashy. He questioned whether it was "on-model," so I showed him the hilarious model sheet, which includes the legendary direction "Keep it loose and distorted. Draw EXPRESSIVELY, not WELL." This clearly bothered him, but he allowed me to continue with the animation. He eventually had me correct a few things and tone some of the stretch and squash down, but this is an earlier version that I like better. The biggest mistake that sticks out to me now is the popping of the stripe on his back during the skip. I should've just left that off.

Space Goose - Space Race 7000

Here's the second episode. Well, I actually did a few months ago, before "Fugitive Goose," but I didn't want to release it until I'd already made another episode. This one served as a test/warm-up sort of thing, so that the real first episode would be a bit more polished and consistent.

Frankenstein's Farm

Here's my latest stop-motion cartoon. It only took a couple of days to make it, and I sort of got lazy towards the end of the filming day. The story sort of falls apart, and it's really not that great, but since I did finish it, I figured I may as well post it. I think there's a couple of mildly funny parts.

Counterpoint - the Story of the Baroque Orchestra

This week I did a cartoon as a project for the Music History part of my Band class. It's about the Baroque Orchestra. Anyway, you can check it out here...
The teacher (Mr. Greaves, as mentioned at the very end) seemed to like it but he did say that he found the intro "disturbing", and that if that part wasn't there, he would be willing to show it to other people.

Veronica's Birthday Party

This short took a little longer-- about four or five days to make, in early April 2006. It was made as a birthday present to my friend Veronica. Anthony and Connor are also real-life friends.
Starring...
Anthony as Anthony and Connor
The computer as Veronica
Ozzy Osbourne as the Conductor
Me as Everyone Else.
When I made this, Anthony had a crush on a girl, and at the time, I hadn't seen seen her, so I could only imagine what she looked like. Therefore, she's represented here by popular children's character Arthur the aardvark, mostly because my only female action figure, Princess Leia, was already used in the first short. Also I think it's funny that Anthony's character is in love with an anthropomorphic male aardvark. (Eventually, in real life, their relationship didn't really develop much. And even in this story, their romance has a tragic end. 'Twas not meant to be. But he's gotten over her.)
BONUS TRIVIA FUN YAY!:
Connor is highly eccentric in real life, and does talk kind of like that. A bit less stilted though.
Connor says 'BRAP' about his car because one time he shouted "I'm a farmer, BRAP!" in our English class. He often tries to use slang like that, with similarly tragic results.
Connor does not actually own a fancy blue car, as far as I know.
"Walk Don't Run" plays when Connor is trying to get onto the train because that was his favourite song when I did this video. I think his current favourite is the Coconut Song or something.
Anthony is Trunks because he likes Dragon Ball Z.
I am Sonic because I used to really like Sonic the Hedgehog.
Connor is Chewbacca because I couldn't find anything more appropriate.
Veronica is the cat because she gave me that cat for Valentine's Day.
May Ng really was her name. I think it's kind of a funny name.

Alvin vs. Roshi

I was planning to do actual music for this, but I got lazy and decided to finish it all in one night, which is why the 'music' is just Alvin singing the same little tune over and over.
